Rick Shores restaurant is the latest addition to one of the Gold Coast’s most iconic sites right on the water at Burleigh Heads. Opening on 1 January 2016, it has quickly established itself as one of the must-do dining experiences on the coast. The offering is a unique, modern take on Pan-Asian cuisine, while specialising in the finest locally sourced ingredients that make this part of the world special.
Seafood, salads, meats, curries and desserts are the hero dishes here, all of which are ideal for sharing with friends and perfectly complement the view across the Pacific Ocean and onto the high rises of Surfers Paradise. Head chef Jake Pregnell and his dedicated team have created a menu where everything is made from scratch with the outcome a great reflection of the talent filling the kitchen team. The menu alters with the season so, although some favourite dishes may be replaced, it’s always with a new favourite. We have been told the Rick’s Moreton Bay Bug Roll is worth travelling across the country for, along with the Soft Shell Crab Som Tum Salad and Ballina King Prawn Yellow Curry.
The design was planned so that every table gets to indulge in the magnificent views, and so you can hear the spectacular sound of the ocean crashing right outside the windows. Being right on the beach it is always necessary to have an impressive beverage list, and Rick Shores is no different. A signature cocktail list expertly designed for maximum refreshment during the never-ending Queensland summer also embraces Asian tweaks on Australian favourites. The wine list has embraced ‘the three Rs’ (Rieslings, Rhônes and Rosés), which are a perfect match-up to the vibrant flavours of the food, while there is also an extension of primarily Australian wines of all the favourite varietals.
