While there may be nothing more enticing than the prospect of a secluded tropical island getaway in the Whitsundays, the cost of doing so may sometimes be prohibitive for would-be travellers. That’s where Palm Bay Resort comes in. It genuinely offers the best of both worlds.
The beauty of this exquisite spot is that the accommodation available is self-catering, meaning you can enjoy all the luxury of an exotic and exclusive hideaway, but keep the costs down and relish the convenience of looking after your own food preferences and bills.
As the only self-catering accommodation in the Whitsundays, Palm Bay Resort (which was previously known as Peppers Palm Bay) is a unique destination. It has a number of Balinese inspired villas right on the beachfront, with larger suites and houses elevated on the hillside for breathtaking views across Whitsunday Passage.
Slip out of your door and onto golden sands or a pool lounger for a lazy morning sunbathing, followed by an afternoon kayaking or snorkelling. Or how about a spot of tennis, a walking tour or a swim in the glistening blue waters of the resort’s sheltered private cove? Then you can round out your day with cocktails as the sun goes down.
There are several self-catering options available, and the resort boasts its own Palm Bay Resort Store. The store has a relationship with Whitsunday Provisioning, meaning various fresh produce, as well as a wide range of staples, is always available or you can order online and have your culinary delights delivered prior to your arrival to the resort. There is also a well-stocked bottle shop.
Like any good idyllic getaway location, there are welcome opportunities for pampering – with everything from massages to facials, manicures, pedicures and body wraps available at the Palm Blue Day Spa.
Accommodation options range from the beachfront villas to bures, Hibiscus suites and one- and two-bedroom bungalows, catering for up to 45 people, and making the resort a perfect spot for events, weddings and corporate functions.
Transport to and from the island is via seaplane, helicopter, water taxi or charter options from the mainland or Hamilton Island. There are also moorings available for visitors arriving in their own vessels.
