Old Government House and William Robinson Gallery

LoadingAdd to itinerary

Recognised as one of Queensland’s most important heritage sites, the House was both a private residence and official state office for Governor Bowen, the colony’s first governor, and continued to be the home of Queensland’s governors until 1910.

After a major restoration, Old Government House is now an historic museum and a gallery housing the works of renowned Australian landscape artist William Robinson. Enjoy:

  • concerts by local orchestras and bands on the first Sunday of the month
  • regular guided tours of Old Government House – places are limited and bookings are essential, and
  • podcasts and interpretive displays offering fascinating insights into the House.

Free admission. Opening hours: 10am–4pm, Sunday to Friday
