No experience of North Queensland is complete without taking in the breathtaking beauty of the Nerada Tea plantation, the largest of its kind in Australia.
With a long history dating back to 1882, the family-owned plantation stretches across 1100 acres (450 hectares) of rich volcanic soil in the stunning Atherton Tablelands, and offers an unforgettable sensory experience. Enjoy a deliciously fresh cup of tea and homemade scones while you feast your eyes on the pristine, lush Cairns Highlands and the beauty they exude.
And what’s more, you will have the chance to see one of Australia’s rarest creatures, the Lumholtz’s tree-kangaroo. They live in the trees just 10 metres from the Visitor Centre, and will certainly be an unforgettable highlight of your time on the plantation in this beautiful part of North Queensland.
The Visitors’ Centre is located 90 kilometres (1.5 hours’ drive) south-west of Cairns.
