Gold Coast Commonwealth Games

The Commonwealth Games will be the largest sporting event in Australia for a decade. It brings together 70 nations and territories over 11 days to celebrate sport and culture, including theatrical productions, performers and outstanding visual art and traditional Indigenous arts practice. It explores 18 sports and seven para-sports that will entertain audiences around the world. The Games will also make history by being the first games where both men and women have an equal number of medal events.
The annual Logie Awards ceremony has been hosted in Melbourne for the last 30 years, but in 2018 it moves to beautiful Queensland. The event celebrates Australian television and provides entertainment and enjoyment for all ages. The Logies creates an environment that recognises the history and achievements of the television industry. It has a public voting system that allows anyone to vote for the television star or television program of their choice.
Pop Up North Queensland

Pop Up North Queensland is a festival of pop-up exhibitions and shops throughout empty spaces in Townsville. The festival features creative activities such as films, workshops and performances, and brings local and interstate artists together. The event takes place across the Central Business District and showcases the importance of a vibrant and active community and the exciting possibilities of creative business. It is a family friendly event that provides free Wi-Fi and activities such as puppet making and scrapbooking. The festival provides entertainment at different locations and promotes artistic expression.

The Murwillumbah Art Trail

The annual Art Trail transforms Murwillumbah township into a series of art galleries and event venues encompassing art, workshops, performance, fashion, theatre, sculpture, film, food, public space revitalisation and community. The 2018 theme ‘Moving On’ was inspired by the March 2017 flood and explores the resilience of the community and the capacity for art to heal. The Murwillumbah Art Trail brings different aspects of the community together by providing an exhibition, party and great day out all in one event. The workshops and entertainment ensure an atmosphere catering to all ages and an enjoyable family event.
Gold Coast Food and Wine Festival

The prestigious Gold Coast Food and Wine Festival celebrates the culture of Queensland and puts the spotlight the finest food and wine in the region. The event is in its third year and creates an exciting and innovative food destination on the Gold Coast, including the new night market-based food mecca of Night Quarter, and the biggest names of the Gold Coast food scene. The festival will host over 36 events across the weekend and bring 176 local businesses together.
