Southport Sharks is a premier dining and entertainment precinct located on Queensland’s Gold Coast. It is one of the largest clubs in the state, with over 55,000 members and hosting over one million visitors annually. The facility boasts a multipurpose events centre, two restaurants, a café, five bars, two AFL-grade ovals, sporting facilities, a modern 24-hour fitness centre, kids’ club, gaming and free daily entertainment, plus in 2018 the club will launch a new Mantra hotel.
Football is ingrained in the local Australian way of life, and Southport Sharks has an exciting and interesting football history, dating back to its foundations in 1961. Participating in the Gold Coast Australian Football League and playing its home games at Owen Park, the club quickly built up a reputation of being a fiercely competitive and successful club.
Despite being such a large club, Southport Sharks remains committed to the local community and true to its heritage – a club built on community spirit. As a key stakeholder in the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct, the club aims to be an active and integral part of the local community by providing financial support, hospitality development programs and educational community activities. To demonstrate the Sharks’ commitment to the local community, the club introduced the Sharks Community Benefit Fund in 2008 and has since proudly donated over $500,000 to various local organisations. Many of its charity partners are based locally and help the local community.
Southport Sharks continues to grow, and is scheduled to complete its Mantra at Sharks hotel in early 2018. The hotel features 120 rooms, light-filled meeting rooms and a rooftop bar with Surfers Paradise skyline views.
Southport Sharks is located in the heart of the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct, just 10 minutes from Surfers Paradise and five minutes from the stunning Gold Coast Broadwater.
